Dear Families ~
A message from our librarian regarding Battle of the Books…..
We are very excited to offer the Battle of the Books (BoB) for all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students this year. This is a lively reading incentive program used to encourage reading, broaden student interests, increase reading comprehension, and practice cooperative skills. It’s also just a lot of fun!
This year’s Battle of the Book titles were introduced to students in December the week before winter break. Since then, our students have been working hard to read books on the list. They’ve also had time to meet with their teammates to pick a team name, plan and strategize. Next month, students will begin practice rounds to prepare for the finals that will be held the second week of March.
The best part about Battle of the Books is that our graphic novel shelves are overflowing and The Diary of the Wimpy Kid books are all on the library shelves. I also enjoy seeing these students several times each week as they come to switch out their BoB books. We are very proud of these students and look forward to seeing the excitement as they prepare for the competition.

If we have a late start, or school is canceled, a robo call (School Messenger) will go out to all our families. If you’re not getting them, go to Skyward Family Access and then ‘Sky Alert’. Walk ‘n’ Roll to School!
Hey Centennial Stars, it’s time to Walk N Roll! Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program invites all students and their families to walk to school on February 9th! What a great way to burn off those holiday desserts!
Students who walk or roll to school get a prize! Centennial is Walking N Rolling to school all year long! Save the dates.

Keeping your contact information up to date is vital in an emergency. When your child has been injured at school or is sick, the office needs to have accurate contact information. It is also necessary for teachers to have up to date contact information to keep you informed regarding your child’s progress. Please send a note in with your child if you have a change to your phone number(s), address, or email information.
