Hello Centennial Families ~
Each and every day, I am thankful for this community. We have come together during this incredibly
challenging time to do what we do best, and that is support students. In true Centennial form our teachers,
staff, students and families continue to go above and beyond to support each other.
We currently have 366 students on campus each day along with 126 students remaining in a fully remote
classroom. These last several weeks have been especially difficult though as we have had to say good-bye to
some students and while saying hello to new students one more time as we combined cohorts and brought
back an additional 50 remote students. It is hard to put into words the range of emotions we have all felt
during this year +. While it has been wonderful to have so many students back on campus, I cannot wait
until all of our students and staff are back together this fall, under one roof. We certainly are better together!
The flexibility, determination, positivity and resilience shown by our students, staff and families has been
impressive and inspiring!
While we are starting to think and plan for wrapping up the 2020 - 2021 school year, we are also actively
preparing for a full return this fall. Many details still need to be finalized but it is exciting work. As those
details come in, we will communicate them with you. One piece I can share regarding the 2021 - 2022
school year is the exciting news that Centennial students will be gaining a new teacher …. An Art
Specialist! This fall, students will benefit from weekly Art, P.E. Music and Library!

May 26th – Zoom Assembly
Aloha! This month in music class students are learning about the musical traditions and culture of Hawaii!
Students will be learning about Hawaiian musical traditions such as song, chant, instruments, and dance.
This exciting series will end with a special guest, Jay Currie (son of Mrs. Currie!), who will be sharing some
traditional Hawaiian music with us at both a virtual assembly and a virtual Luau on Wednesday, May 26th at
2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. At the Luau, students will also have the opportunity to share what they have
learned with their families, as well as enjoy a performance by Jay Currie. A Zoom link to both these events
will be sent out to families the week of the event. We can't wait to see you there! Olivia Thronson, Music

Early
Release Days in June - New Times!
Note the new hours for these two early release days on Friday, June 11th and the last day of school on
Tuesday, June 22nd. The half-day schedule is now 8:30 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. for in-person students.
Grab & Go Lunches
Are available on Wednesdays only. Families can stop by and take an individual lunch or 5 days meal. Hours
are 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Note that on June 11th (Early Release- half day) students will take home a Grab
& Go Lunch if they choose this option. No hot lunches will be served at school, on this day.
Not Returning to Centennial Next Year - Moving or going to another school
Centennial families please contact the school office to let us know that your child will be withdrawing at the
end of June; this will allow us to prepare for next year enrollment. Families that are returning next year, you
do not need to call the school. We will have you update your 2021-22 student’s information online; the
same as last year, in the fall.

This is only for families new to the school district.
Families still need to know that they will need to pick up a registration packet from Centennial to complete
the enrollment process. We have several forms that are specific to our school that need to be completed and
important informational flyers for our new families.

Attestations
Reminder to parents/guardians to complete your child’s monthly attestation form in Skyward Family
Access when your child first starts on-site learning/activities, and again at the start of each month thereafter,
that attests they will complete this daily wellness screening, including checking your child for symptoms of
COVID-19 before they come on campus.
CES Library Books
- June 9th ~ ALL library books are due for remote students
- June 7th - 11th ~ One Book Week: in-person students may check out ONE book from the library
- June 14th ~ ALL Library books are due for in-person students
- June 16th ~ Timberland Regional library will be at our library Zooms to talk about the TRL Summer Reading Program!

Spring Clothing
The warm weather is on its way (we are hopeful) so are the children’s desires to get into
their spring and summer clothing. On warm days, children may wear shorts to school.
We also strongly recommend that children not wear open-toed shoes or sandals to school
because of the risk of injury to the feet on our busy playground.
Classroom Packet Pick-up for students in 100% Remote Learning Students
Instructional materials aka “packets” are available for pick-up every two weeks on Wednesdays. Completed
packets can be turned back in to the teacher when you collect the new packets. Make sure your child’s name
and teacher is on the packet. Drive to the Bus Loading Zone to pick up items on these dates and times.

Staff is only available to help on Wednesdays. If you cannot make this Wednesday pick up date, go to the
school office and staff will assist you during normal office hours 7:30-3:30 p.m.
